Fan Call

I recently received an email from the husband of one of my fans whose wife recently gave birth to their second child. While this is always something to celebrate, a toll had been taken on this mother’s heart as her baby was placed in the neonatal intensive care unit after birth and had yet to breathe on his own. Her husband told me that his wife was a big fan of mine and he thought a phone call from me may be just the thing to brighten her spirits. I was so touched by this man’s love and concern for his wife as well as his story that I did just what he asked me to. I wasn’t sure if his wife would answer an unknown number when I called but was grateful when she did. I introduced myself and told her about her husband’s email; she was shocked, to say the least. I offered her words of encouragement, told her to hang in there and relayed a story about another couple I worked with once on My Fair Wedding whose twins spent the first several months of their lives in the hospital but are healthy as can be today. She told me she got to hold her son for the first time yesterday since his birth but that they could definitely use all the prayers they could get, which is exactly what I will give to her. The phone call only took a few minutes of my time but I’m hoping it was enough to make her smile and lift her up until she gets to bring her baby home.

  5. That was really sweet of you. I am sure you made her feel better and made yourself feel better to have done it.
That is why I liked your MFW before the unveiled part. You spent more time with your brides and always made them feel like princesses.
The way you treat women makes us all love you : )

  7. David you are amazing... You not only do weddings and events but you make time for everyone you possibly can .. Your love of people is so inspiring and the world can learn about compassion and caring and love just by watching you do what you love to do and by watching you go the extra mile for everyone who truly needs that extra touch that you provide. A phone call from you surely gave that mother the hope she so needed.. and as you said it only took a few moments but you gave her the memory of a lifetime .. God Bless you David.. and God bless your mom for raising a wonderful man and instilling the love and compassion that you show everyday of your life..

  8. Wow David, I know you can't call everyone, but am so happy that you had an oppurtunity to touch her life! When my first child was born I had to leave her in neonatal because she wasn't drinking a bottle and was jaundice. It was very hard to leave without her. I'm also glad that the Mom had a chance to hold her baby. Sometimes a touch and a voice does wonders. (:

  12. Wow this story hit me hard, Nov 14th 2006 my son was 7weeks early and nearly died. He had to have life saving surgery at 17days old, while this was going on my heart stopped pumping on my right side. Not only did my husband have to worry about his son in NICU his wife was there too. What you did for that family was truly amazing. I know because I was in that families shoes.
