My Mom

Life provides many things that you are never prepared for. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good. Right now, for me, I am a very lucky guy because I’ve got the gift of having my mom with me for an unlimited amount of time here in Los Angeles. She and I flew to LA and I treated her like the queen that she is--first class. We got here and we’ve already begun to have a wonderful time filled with relaxation. We went to church, to brunch, saw an amazing movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower and ate popcorn--we had the best time! Now we’re going hiking on Day 2. We’ve got lots of plans-all simple, but all memorable and since she’s got a one way ticket, I don’t know when she’s going back to New York. The best thing is that I get to have one-on-one time with my mom for a long period of time. THAT, is a gift in life.

  1. Enjoy your time with your mom David. Our time with them is fleeting as I so learned back in April of 2000. I miss my mom so much and would give anything to have had more time to share our lives together. Cherish every moment.. Mom's rock.

  3. I lost my mother this May and was so lucky I was able to honor her and love her to her last breath. I still honor and adore her and your post makes me smile all the more on the special bond you to have and the one that I had and will remember and cherish forever.

  4. David I have just finished Season 3 of My Fair Bride and this is the first time I have heard of you and the beautiful things you do for people this is a gift given by God and also your Mom for encouraging you, being there for you and loving you unconditionally. Your right to say that the Mom is the new Queen. I hope and pray you will have a wonderful time, and I know you probably know this but please always tell her how much you love her anytime of the day you get the chance to and how proud you are to call her Mom. My parents have both passed away and I sure miss them but I never let a day pass without telling them I love them. I pray you and your Mom will have a great time! God Bless! Cheri Upchurch

  5. Yes, You are lucky to be able to spend time with your Mom! She sounds like a very special person in your life! It sounds like she has had fun raising you, as mentioned in your book Big Birthdays. Sometimes life doesn't turn out the way it one thinks it should. You have to grab the good and run with it. My Mom had a stroke when when I was in my early thirties. She is survived the stroke, but she isn't independant. The good thing is she still remembers who I am and can talk to me, bad thing her sense of time is not right. I remember the simple things like playing scrable in the backyard on a warm summer night, or taking a walk down the alley in Chicago and looking at the gardens of the neighbors and checking out garage sales to look for treasures... I think everyone needs time to step back, relax and think about what matters most.

  6. Enjoy your mommy time, it goes fast, mine passed back in 2003 and although she didn't pass in November, but Thanksgiving was a big thing for her and this is my birthday month, so this is always a hard time of the year for me. So just remember all the things that most take for granted and forget to be thankful for. Enjoy your mom and your holidays.

  8. That is a wonderful thing, some of us don't have the greatest relationship with our mother's but I feel joy for those of you who do. I have 4 daughters and 1 son and I make sure that I have a fun and close relationship with them.

They love that I throw parties and have a business and I think that Im teaching them a lesson in how I carry myself in life and in my business.

Fun unlimited time is always the best, I recently closed my retail boutique to work from my home office so I can be around for my family.

Im a big fan of yours and love how honest and funny you are on your show in addition to being fabulously talented!

Well What Would Have Been His 21st Birthday My Mother Was In CCU Fighting For Her Life From Cancer And Had Not Spoken In Weeks . She Sat Up And She Asked Why Jason Was In Her Hospital Room.. It Hit Me That Exactly 21 Years Ago In That Same Hospital I Was Giving Birth To My 1st Born Child, My Only Son Jason.
