How Exciting!!

My very own blog on my very own web site....its exciting!  Believe it or not the little things in life still get me excited, including this blog.   My team has been so busy working hard on the redesign of my web site and an important element to include for me in the new site was my blog.  I want this blog to be more personal to my readers and for me.  I thought the David Tutera Blog could be more of a look into my life, my thoughts and my experiences.  I spend so much time traveling and I have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people. Relationships are so important to me that I cherish each one I make.  A friend of mine taught me years ago that people come into our lives either for a season, a reason or a lifetime.  This is so true...but what is more important is that we need to keep ourselves always open to new experiences which, in turn, will allow us to develop new relationships to learn from.

Every bride, every vendor, each new friend I meet enters my life to teach me something.  If we are open to these life experiences, we will always continue to grow as people.  I hope my new blog will allow for me to share my life's experiences and help me grow by sharing them with you and allow for all of my readers to learn a little something new about me.  I have a saying on my computers both at home and at work that says....Life is a gift!

May each day be filled with gifts we can open and share with each other. So here is to my first blog on my web site and here is to...celebrating life in style!

  1. I've never heard of you before today-when I watched what you did for the day of the dead wedding-and now see your blog-and I totally agree with your outlook about people being in our lives for a reason a season or a lifetime. If i ever get married again i will remember what you said to "Katie" that you are worth it! Thank you for you!

  2. Hi Mr. Tutera,
My name is Rene' Hernandez. Email address is renebhernandez@yahoo.com.
I watch your show alot and think you are a great person. I got engaged on Jan 10, 2010 and on Jan 11th, 2010 I had brain surgery for an aneurysm. There were complications from the surgery. They could not get the entire aneurysm, so I still have part of it in my brain. I had a stroke immediately after the surgery and I now have seizures. I have lots of problems with my brain. Everything is on the left side, which controls your speech, thinking and other things. We wanted to get married Oct 23, 2010. I have tried several times to plan my wedding but the stress overloads my brain and I either have a seizure or my brain just short circuits. I cannot even help my 8 yr old with his homework because my brain won't let me remember how to do it and I am a college graduate with straight A's before the surgery. I had to have the neighbor type this because my spelling is awful. I have picked out my dress on David's Bridal but have not purchased it yet, because I do not know when and if there will be a wedding. I would love it if you could help me.
I live in Tampa Florida and cannot fly or travel to Los Angeles due to my health, so if next time you are casting near Tampa if you could consider me for your help I would be very grateful.

  8. This is a wonderful blessing from God. He has blessed you in so many ways. I pray that He continues to do so. When you came to New York I went to your seminar and learned that a lot of what I have been doing was right, and learned new tips from you. I also enjoyed your book, and the picture we took which I cherish.

I watch all of your shows and as an Event Coordinator am so inspired as I watch each and everyone of them. Continue to keep the passion and do what you are doing. God bless and keep you.

  12. Hi David,

My name is Olivia, and I am from North Carolina. I just want to say I absolutely love what you do! You take a bride and make her dreams come true, and enjoy doing so! The look on your face after you reveal to a couple what you have done is so sincere. My boyfriend and I plan to marry, but not for sometime due to the fact that, well, we simply can not afford it right now; I gave birth to my beautiful daughter Abigail this past April, I'm enrolled in school full time, and my boyfriend just opened a small repair shop, so it's just not realistic right now. BUT when we have a date set, I would love some of your fabulous help & advice! You, David, will be invited to my wedding! You told a bride recently, "think big", well, when i think big, I see David Tutera!

  13. David,
I am so happy for you that you have this wonderful blog! You deserve nothing but the best in life and the future! You are an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING person! I watch your show and I am currently planning my wedding for next October and I take a lot of things that you say an do in your shows to heart so that I can try and make my wedding nothing but spectacular.
If you are ever in Upstate NY It would be great to meet you! Or maybe even have you stop by my wedding!

I know first hand what it is like to live each day like there is no tomorrow. I know what it is like to have people come into your life that you never want to leave and I also know what it's like to finally find your soul mate!!! You are a great inspiration David and I hope you continue to be everything you are and more! I absolutely LOVE you and your show! Any bride that you help deserves it and should have your help and nothing but the best!
    love Melissa

  14. David,

As a wedding planner in Las Vegas, I want to congratulate you on all your well deserved success and tell you that I so enjoyed your show "My Fair Wedding" this season.

I loved your transformations of not only the event but of the brides themselves as you helped them grow more beautiful inside and outside.

There are so many wedding shows that belittle the reverence and importance of the occasion of marriage but I do enjoy watching yours for elevating weddings and wedding planning to something that is to be admired; the drama is in the beauty of the reveal and the positive emotions.

Congratulations on the new website and blog and hope to see you one day in Las Vegas perhaps?

  17. Dearest David,
First of all I would love to congratulate you on your success. It is well deserved. You are such a kind man.I watch all of your shows and there's not one time through out the show I dont cry. When I got married a wonderful 32 years ago on Oct 6th. I wasnt able to even try on my own wedding gown.Because I Live in a small town in Vt and there was only 1 store. they only had like size 10 dreeses (iwas a 14).So my cousin had to try it on for me. I know it probably wasnt a big deal. But when I see girls getting to try on all these wonderful gowns cant help be a little enveious.even after all these years. Well now im not the tiny size 14. But always say to my hubby "ya know it would be fun just to buy a dress to feel the grandness of it all". Well my point is when you have a plus size bride you treat her with difnity and respect . You are so kind. You make them feel special.Thats just one of many things I love about you. You make peoples dreams come true and how exciting and fulfilling that is.So when I watch your show I cant help but feel joy for all your clients. Thank you for treating everyone the same poor rich or in between. God will Bless you. and thank you for letting me dream a little too..My first daughter just got engaged and im looking forward in planning her wedding wish me luck.Continue to be true to yourself and life will return best wishes 10 fold. God Bless Looking forward to new season...Sincerely Shelly Lake in Vermont

  18. David,

Congratulations on your new blog. I can't wait until your next post.

I watch My Fair Wedding all the time and read your notes on Facebook. No, I am not a stalker. I'm just a bride planning her own wedding. No, this is not a request for your help, although that would be a dream come true and we are supposed to Dream Big, right? I know you get so many requests that there just is not enough time to do them all. During my planning, I often think, "What would David say?"

Oh I do have to tell you about a wedding I attended recently. The bride wore jeans and a white Harley Davidson top. The groom wore jeans and a black bikers jacket. For decor there were streamers and balloons. (Yes! Balloons!! At a wedding!!!) For food they served hamburgers, hot dogs, bar-b-que, potato salad and coleslaw. It seemed more like a backyard cook out than a wedding. I kept thinking, "Where is David Tutera when you really need him?"

  31. Congratulations on the blog and all of your successes, especially the work that you are doing with the prevent cancer foundation. My mom lost her battle to cancer on April 12,2010, 8 days shy of her 67th birthday. Unfortunately she will not be able to see me get married in February. I know she would have loved to be a big part in the planning, but now we are just having a ceremony with no reception. At least she was able to me engaged four days before her passing. Please continue to do all you can to prevent this horrible disease, and post any events regarding cancer prevention. I love your work, I love you! Congratulations again!

  36. Hi There David,
First let me say what a wonderful idea your blog is. For those us of who have watched you and are not lucky enough to share in your grace we can now at least get to know you somewhat online. At any rate... The way you were speaking of Santa Fe reminded me of how I feel about New Orleans SO...
I was wondering have you ever planned or thought about planning a wedding in New Orleans? I am getting married in fall 2011 or spring 2012. I am visually impaired and most of my family is disabled so we will need assistance from a planner even though I am quite creative and have a good vision of what I want.
We love your show watching how you can conceptualize dreams and with the help of your team turn them into reality is trully amazing. Do you know or can any staff recommend any vendors etc in my area? Thank you for doing what you do, by watching the show and seeing how much you care it really give those of us how have lost hope the chance to hold of our dreams no matter how hard life gets.
    You trully have a gift.
I know my family and friends as well as the people of New Orleans would love to welcome You and the crew with open arms and embrace you as their own. I would greatly appreciate you giving it some thought, I can just see you in New Orleans planning a grand old world southern hospitality soirre, even if it wasn't mine... I'd love to see it. Sincerely,Tina L. Romano

  38. Thank you for being authentic and sharing your passion. My floral journey is taking me to a place where I share my 30+ years experience in a
"real" way with my contemporaries. Being a creative designer is rewarding, but that ain't all it's cracked up to be! We must give great service and value to keep 'em coming, right? You obviously have learned that trick, and I commend you. Keep creating value and beauty, and have a wonderful time with the journey....

  44. Hello David,

I am so excited for your blog. this way you can interact closely with your fans, I am your #1, and I know you may hear it a lot. I simply adore you! keep up the good work, and May God continue to bless you and your business. I have a question that I have been dying to ask, I even wrote you a letter and haven't had the chance to send it out as yet. Why don't you do weddings on a budget for example: $10, 000 and so forth? I have seen most of your episodes on 'My fair Wedding' and in almost every one that I have seen, if not all, you say that a bride should be [treated] like a princess on her special day. Now, if you believe that to be true, and if a bride can only afford a budget of $10,000 why aren't you able to be her wedding planner?

  45. Hi David my names is Desiree Gurule. I am 19 years old. My fiances name is Adrian Montoya. He is 22 years old. We met in high school. I would definitely say we are high school sweet hearts. Adrian is in the United states Air Force and I am currently working at a restaurant. Not only is it hard planning a wedding because he has been deployed for 6 months but I haven't had the motivation to really get into planning my wedding. My grandfather passed away from cancer last month, and we were very close my grandparents were married 63 years and had 9 children together.I hope what me and Adrian have will be something true like what My grandparents had. When I found out about My grandfathers Illness We agreed we would get married in December when Adrian returned from deployment, So my grandfather could be there but things didn't turn out as planned. I know Adrian truly wishes he could make our day everything I've ever wanted it to be and more. It really does
hurt me because I know I should be excited to plan one of the biggest days of my life but all I can think about is how my grandfather will not be there to celebrate it with me. He was suppose to walk me down the aisle. I want our day to be really unique. Maybe a pink theme for breast cancer? or something in remembrance for him. I know my grandmother would love that. My biggest fear for my wedding day is that it wont be all I want it to be because of how his passing is affecting me. We plan on getting married May 14, 2011. I have are the ceremony( which will be held outside) and reception place, the caterer picked out and my dress. Please help us David. Consider us for weddings you will be doing in May. Please.

I have sent this to your casting call. I am desperate for your help.

    -Desiree

I became disabled in 1992 due to a doctor surigcal procedure so I am unable to work. Ambers father William Borden had recieved colon cancer from serving in the Us Air Force and being in the Gulf War. He still works but with five kids and three granddaughters we barely make it from month to month. She is wanting to get married May 21st 2011. I am at a loss because being my only daughter I would love to give her her dream wedding but right now do not have any idea how. Are there any shortcuts or suggestions that you can give me to help me. she would like a big wedding with her side of the family and her fiances side of the family there which live everywhere in the us. If you can help me in anyway i would appreciate it you can reach me at 417-522-9525 or you can reach me at margieoliver61@yahoo.com. thank you for your time

  50. Hello Mr. Tutera! My name is Maureen, and one of my best friends and his partner are huge fans of your show. I've recently had declining vision due to detached retina, so I didn't get to watch it until a few days ago. I downloaded it from iTunes! Your show is the best! I love your sense of style, colors, etiquette, the whole package! You're amazing, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't watch sooner.
My daughter, Jennifer, is marrying into a very well known, celebrity-type, wealthy family on April 9, 2011. As the mother of the bride, I do realize I am responsible for paying for everything. We've got her dress, a short, knee length ivory dress
with side to side folds embellished with lace appliqués and crystals. Bridesmaids were difficult to deal with and finally agreed on a dress, but we're still waiting on
two of the girls to get their dresses. The Groom's grandparents have graciously offered to hold the outdoor BBQ reception at their home from 2pm-6pm on the day of the wedding. That was truly a Godsend, and we have thanked them over and over.
I am now completely stuck on a couple of points, and I desperately need advice.
The first is the decor for the reception. It's outdoor, spring party type, with a 1940's theme. We are having a heck of a time figuring it out on my budget (the one paycheck thing). Also, how to honor two deceased, very close to my daughter family members at the reception without it being too sad and too much of a focus at either the wedding or reception.
I know it's way too late and too far out of my budget to sign up for your appearance at the Cosmopolitan this week. But, are you doing any other book signings or appearances this week here in Vegas? I'm off this week for chemotherapy, so I can make it almost anywhere you'll be here in town.
My email address is MR79LV@aol.com. If anyone else here on this blog has any affordable solutions, please let me know your ideas. I'm very open to suggestions.
Congratulating you on your blog once more, Mr. Tutera, I will be studying and enjoying your shows as long as you make them!

There is one constant in each and every episode of your show, "My Fair Wedding" and that is how sincere and real you are. You want to help these people. I feel that God has given you a special talent David and that is to make these brides feel special and worthy. You make me want to be a better person because you lead by example. Each and every wedding you plan is absolutely amazing. Please keep doing what you do because nobody does it better.
